VoNW Spring Fest a Resounding Success

April 29-30, 2006, Lakewood, WA.

The Cascade Vaulters, along with the Mt. Rainier Vaulters and Emerald City Vaulters, hosted the Vaulters of the Northwest Spring Fest 2006 at Brookwood Equestrian Center. Participating in the AVA Recognized competition were 66 vaulters from twelve clubs in Washington, Oregon, British Columbia and Alberta.

Highlights of the competition included Copper and Bronze freestyle routines as well as a Tiny Tot class. All of the individual barrel freestyle routines were very impressive and well appreciated by the audience of about 60. And the Iron Mt. Vaulters presented an excellent Barrel Team Freestyle routine.

Complete results / scores are posted here.

The competition also included the inaugural presentation of the Preliminary Technical Test class. This class was designed to give coaches, vaulters and judges experience preparing, presenting and judging technical tests in preparation for upper level and international competition.

Overall the competition went very well and was probably the best vaulting competition held in Washington State in several years. This was acknowledged at a regional meeting during the second day of competition when the coaches expressed a desire to host the regional championships at Brookwood EC on September 9 & 10, 2006.
