2006 Club Report
The text below was submitted to the American Vaulting Association's "Vaulting World" magazine for inclusion in the February issue along with reports from other registered vaulting clubs.
The Cascade Vaulters' second full year, 2006, was full of firsts. In April we led combined effort, with the Mt. Rainier Vaulters and the Emerald City Vaulters to present the "Vaulters of the Northwest Spring Fest". This was the first time our club put on a competition. In June we organized a joint demonstration with the Sky Mtn. Vaulters and the Mt. Rainier Vaulters at the Bridle Trails [State] Park Foundation's “Party in the Park” where we preformed for an audience of several hundred enthusiastic equestrian supporters. This was our first major demonstration and first non-competitive performance away from our barn. In July we participated in the Redmond Derby Days' “Venture Bank Grand Parade”, our first time in a parade. The highlight of our competitive season was in September when we helped our Region organize the 2006 Region III Championships and brought home a number of first place ribbons including Silver Women Overall and Best Horse.
The biggest changes of the year came in mid-October when we moved to the Northwest Natural Horsemanship Center in Fall City, WA and elected a new Club Manager, Tracy Barbee. The wonderful facility and outstanding parental support has allowed our club to continue to grow in: membership; competitive strength; and organizational maturity.
2007 is looking like another exciting year with early plans well under way for: organizing Spring and Fall Fests; participation in a number of competitive events including the AVA / USEF National Championships; as well as continued club growth and more fun activities.
