News & Updates

I figure it is about time to send out an update about what has been going on with our club and start preparations for the next few steps in our club’s evolution.

The first bit of news is that Therese Rogers, our Club Manager / Secretary / Treasurer, got all the paperwork submitted to the AVA to register the Cascade Vaulters as a club and to apply for our non-profit status. Thanks Therese!

Second I’ve started this public website / ‘blog for our club. I will try to update it regularly so that you can point your friends and family at it if they are interested in what we’ve been doing.

Again if you are a member or supporter of our club and still haven’t signed up for our members website at Yahoo Groups, please do so soon, or I may simply add your e-mail address to the mailing list. This web site has or will soon have important information like our practice schedule, club roster, minutes of club meetings and our club bylaws / rules. It also has interesting stuff like photos of club activities, including our field trip to practice with the Emerald City Vaulters and Devonwood. Starting with my next e-mail this Yahoo list will be the main way that we communicate with vaulters and parents. You can sign up and set your preferences by visiting: http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/CascadeVaulters/join

The biggest news is that Tami Howard, our VP / Publicity Coordinator, has been hard at work on the search for a new practice venue. She has initiated contacts with a number of perspective equestrian facilities and several seem interested. Some of these may even have horses available that we could use. Way to go Tami!! So we’re starting to set up some site visits. Ideally I’d like these visits to include as many vaulters and parents as we can muster.

In other news we have been contacted by a few perspective vaulters. And I'm hoping that we can conduct some open tryouts soon after we secure a new practice venue. If we want to expand to more then six vaulters, we also need to be looking for perspective assistant coaches and longeurs.

Also I’d like to announce that I will be attending a coaches & longeurs clinic at Dreamswept Farm (home of the Emerald City Vaulters) and testing for a Vaulting Coaches certification through the Canadian EVA, December 11 & 12.
